Political Action - Members' voices at work

SEIU members advocating for local issues  SEIU members lobby in Washington, DC

"There are a lot of competing interests fighting over the state and federal budgets each year.

To protect state services and quality jobs, we need to work together with politicians who will support us and the services we provide to the people of California."

Our union's Committee on Political Education (COPE) gives SEIU members the resources to support public officials who will stand with us on issues that are important to us.

Federal and state law prohibits using dues money to directly support public officials and candidates.  However, members may voluntarily contribute to COPE to support politicians who stand with working families.

Contributions to COPE give our members more power to hold elected officials accountable to the needs of the membership and their families.
